Roof-truss enquiry checklist for drawings, loads and delivery

This checklist helps collect inputs for a competent supplier or designer; it is not a structural design method.

Updated 2026-09-10

Issue controlled drawings

Send drawings with revision numbers and dates. Highlight spans, pitches, supports, openings, raised ties, attic-room requirements and interfaces with walls or steelwork.

List materials and loads

Record roof coverings, ceiling construction and every known item that may add load. Ask the competent designer to confirm the assumptions used and do not add equipment later without checking.

Describe the site and programme

Provide the postcode, access restrictions, delivery route, unloading area, storage space, crane or lifting constraints and the date the supporting structure will be ready.

Confirm responsibilities and documents

Record who designs, checks bearings, supplies bracing information, unloads, stores and installs. Ask what drawings, calculations, certificates and installation information will be issued, and how revisions are approved.
